Overview
Surfing New Zealand delivers the International Surfing Association (ISA) Stand Up Paddleboarding Level One Instructors Course. This course applies to the instruction of flat water paddling and beginners. This is the ONLY course recognised in New Zealand for teaching SUP.
The Course
The two day course covers all aspects of instructing this fast growing sport safely and includes the Community Instructors Lifesaving Award.
Morning tea and coffee is provided. Participants will need to bring a packed lunch and their SUP equipment and suitable wetsuit. Accommodation and travel arrangements to these courses are the responsibility of the candidate. Please check the course is going ahead before you book your travel.
Paddling Ability
Participants must be competent paddlers. Competency/skills tests will be carried out as part of the course.
Post Course Requirements
Participants will need to have a current First Aid Certificate or gain the certificate after the course to complete the qualification. You must have good spoken and written English language skills as communication is a key tool for instructing.
On completion of the course, participants will be qualified as an accredited ISA Level One Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor.
Costs
The course costs $600.

Courses are added to our schedule subject to demand.
Courses will be advertised through local SUP clubs, on this website and via newsletter and social media. A minimum of 8 participants is required for a course to be held.
