These individuals are legends of the waves — athletes, innovators, and ambassadors who have helped shape the legacy of surfing in New Zealand.

  • Dave Walpole – Champion surfer and early leader in competitive surfing development.
  • Peter Byers – Groundbreaking surfer, judge, and advocate for the sport.
  • Wayne Parkes – Multiple-time national champion and trailblazer in New Zealand surfing.
  • Allan Byrne – Internationally respected shaper and competitor, known for innovation in surfboard design.
  • Cindy Webb – Pioneer for women’s surfing in New Zealand and mentor for the next generation.

2001 Inductees

  • Bob Davie – Lifelong contributor, organiser, and foundational figure in national surf governance.
  • Logan Murray – Renowned competitor and respected coach.
  • Iain Buchanan – National title record-holder and international competitor; still one of NZ’s most decorated surfers.
