Billabong Grom Series Event 3 Relocated to Mount Maunganui
In light of recent events we have made the decision not to hold the Billabong Grom Series finale at Piha next weekend.
We hope that the community continues to pull together and gets back on their feet after the devastation of the cyclone.
We have looked at options to reschedule or relocate and we have decided on the latter and will move the event to Mount Maunganui, Tay Street next weekend.
The decision is not made lightly but there were several contributing factors:
Piha is obviously not in a position to host the event next weekend
We don’t have a clear line of sight to when Piha will be able to host us again
We have one spare weekend through until the middle of May and two events to reschedule (Billabong Groms and Waveform Muriwai)
We have participants with flights pending for next weekend who are best accommodated with relocating the event
Tauranga City Council have been accommodating with our request
We know that the Piha/Auckland groms will be disappointed but we hope everyone understands the rationale.
