TAVARUA, Fiji (Saturday, May 24, 2014) – The Fiji Women’s Pro, Stop No. 5 of 10 on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT), has attracted the world’s best female surfers to the world-class waves of Cloudbreak and Restaurants for the recommencement of this season’s battle for the world surfing crown. The event window commences tomorrow, May 25, with solid swell projected by official forecaster Surfline. Starting relatively small, but contestable, on Sunday and into Monday morning with light wind and beautiful weather. A larger series of South West swells are set to build on Monday afternoon through to Wednesday afternoon. The ASP Top 17, led by current World No. 1 Carissa Moore (HAW), are preparing to compete on reef passes of Cloudbreak and Restaurants for the first time in seven years. “We’re so fortunate to be able to come to Fiji this season and we can’t thank the local community and the ASP enough,” Moore said. “Cloudbreak and Restaurants are world-class waves and, as open ocean lefthanders, will really be game changers to the kind of waves we traditionally surf. It’s going to be an exciting week.” “The forecast looks pretty incredible,” Stephanie Gilmore, five-time ASP Women’s World Champion, added. “There’s an electricity in the air and all the girls are so excited to get into some solid surf.” Event wildcard Ella Williams (NZL) and replacement surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW) will join the ASP Top 17 as they showcase their talents on the world-class Fijian reef breaks of Cloudbreak and Restaurants from May 25 – 30, 2014 for the fifth stop on this season’s dream tour.
