Surfers Rescue 24/7 gives your average surfer the skill set that may help to save a life in a critical situation!
What?
Surfers Rescue 24/7 is a 2 hour course held at boardriders clubs and Surf Lifesaving clubs aimed to encourage and develop water rescue techniques and basic CPR skills for surfers of all skill levels.
Why?
Surfers are in the water from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year and are often the first responders to emergencies on Beaches and Waterways. It has been recognised by Surf Life Saving Australia, that in excess of 60% of rescues in the open ocean environment are performed by recreational Surfers. With over 15,000 kilometers of coastline in New Zealand and more than 90% of beaches unpatrolled, surfers can be utilised to assist outside the flags.
How to I sign up?
Courses are run through boardriders clubs and at various Surf Instructor training courses around the country.
Cost?
A small koha of $20.00 may be required at some courses. Regardless of cost all participants MUST register online before the course so we can send you your certificate. Places are limited to 20 people per course.
