SNZ Partners

Surfing New Zealand is proud to work alongside a range of organisations and partners that share our commitment to developing surfing and supporting communities across Aotearoa. These partnerships provide crucial funding, resources, and opportunities to grow the sport at all levels.

Sport New Zealand

Sport New Zealand is the government agency responsible for investing in and supporting sport and recreation across the country. As the recognised national sporting organisation (NSO) for surfing, Surfing New Zealand has enjoyed a long-standing and positive partnership with Sport NZ since the early 1990s.

Their continued support has played a key role in the development of national programmes, events, and pathways that enable surfers of all levels to participate, grow, and succeed.

Foundation North

Foundation North is the principal partner of our Have A Go Surfing Days in the Auckland and Northland regions. This five-week programme is delivered across beaches from Auckland’s west coast to Ahipara in the Far North, targeting low-decile schools and Kura Kaupapa Māori.

Each year, around 800 children up to intermediate level have the opportunity to learn essential beach safety skills and experience the joy of surfing—often for the first time.

In 2014, TAB New Zealand partnered with Surfing New Zealand to introduce betting on surfing events. Through this partnership, Surfing New Zealand receives:

  • 1% of turnover
  • 5% of profit from all TAB surfing betting, both domestic and international

This funding is reinvested into the sport to support development, athlete progression, and event delivery.
