Kiwi pride on display at Bells Beach

Jack Tyro made a fantastic debut on the World Longboard Tour at the 2025 Bioglan Bells Beach Longboard Classic. Called in at the last minute to replace Jeffern Silva, Jack didn’t miss a beat, advancing to the Round of 16 with a two-wave total of 12.03, defeating Portugal’s António Dantas in the Elimination Round.

In the Round of 16, Jack took on Australia’s Kai Ellice-Flint, the current tour rankings leader, in one of the day’s closest heats. Jack pushed Ellice-Flint right to the wire, ultimately missing out by just 0.07 points,  an incredible effort for his first-ever Longboard Tour event.

Surfing New Zealand couldn’t be prouder of Jack. His performance at Bells Beach highlights the immense talent coming through Kiwi surfing and marks a promising start to what’s sure to be an exciting World Longboard Tour career.
