Gisborne Boardriders again looks forward to hosting the Gathering of Stoke this Easter Weekend, (16th-17th April). Held at Midway Beach, Gisborne the one day (Tier 2 SNZ) event features top longboarders in Open Men’s, Open Women’s, Under 18 Girls, Under 18 Boys, Over 50s and Over 60s divisions.
For those that have never put on a competition rash shirt but are keen to paddle out in their first heat, the popular Amateur division is a steppingstone into competitive longboarding and a truly inclusive longboarding event.
Subject to time, a fun tag team event will also take place with a $250 voucher from Neighbourhood Pizzeria for the winning team.
The 2022 edition of the Gathering of Stoke features some great prizes including a custom board give-away by Morris Surfboards NZ, 3x brand new 4/3 wetsuits by C-Skins, 6x Captain Fin Co. fins, a Smoothstar Surf trainer, winner’s trophies and heaps more.
With the Nationals being the only SNZ sanctioned longboarding event completed so far, the Gathering of Stoke looks to attract longboarders from across Aotearoa and will be a great weekend and celebration of all things longboarding. Ex tropical cyclone Fili will have now passed leaving a clean small swell on offer and offshore winds, ideal for longboarding.
