LOS ANGELES, CA/USA (Monday, May 19, 2014) – The upcoming Fiji Women’s Pro, Stop No. 5 of 10 on the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT), begins on May 25, 2014.
With the Women’s Rio Pro presented by Billabong now complete, the world’s best female surfers set their collective sights on the new addition to the 2014 WCT, returning to the reef passes of Cloudbreak and Restaurants for the first time in seven years.
The island paradise of Tavarua boasts perfect waves with the primary venue of Cloudbreak offering some of the Tour’s most challenging and extreme conditions on this year’s schedule. In addition to the deep-water beast of Cloudbreak, Restaurants, a perfect high-performance lefthander that reels along a razor-sharp reef immediately in front of the island restaurant will serve as the secondary location. 2014 will see this island paradise return to the WCT for the first time since 2006 when Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich claimed victory.
The event wildcard is reigning ASP Women’s World Junior Champion Ella Williams of New Zealand. Courtney Conlogue (USA) has withdrawn from the competition following an ankle injury sustained during the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Bells Beach and Tatiana Weston-Webb (HAW) will compete in her place.
Williams and Weston-Webb will join the ASP Top 17 as they return to the world-class Fijian reef breaks of Cloudbreak and Restaurants from May 25 – 30, 2014 for the fifth stop on this season’s dream tour.
The 2014 WCT has completed the opening four of 10 events this season with reigning two-time ASP Women’s World Champion Carissa Moore leading the pack following the Gold Coast, Margaret River, Bells Beach and Rio de Janeiro.
The Fiji Women’s Pro will run from May 25 – 30, 2014 and be webcast LIVE on aspworldtour.com
